Tradovate connection

Current state of the Tradovate API integration and what to expect.

Connect Tradovate once and your closed trades land in the journal automatically. The same connection covers NinjaTrader prop accounts at firms that run on the Tradovate API (Apex, MyFundedFutures, FundedNext and others). TopstepX accounts come in by CSV — see Importing CSV.

Connect

  • ▸Sign in with Tradovate. Connections → Tradovate. Live and demo are separate connections; each prop-firm login is its own connection.
  • ▸Map accounts. Pick which Tradovate account feeds which trading account in Tradelyst. Only mapped accounts are imported.
  • ▸Backfill history. “Backfill all from…” imports your trades from a start date — start on a day you were flat.

What gets imported

  • ▸New trades sync every few minutes. Only complete trades are imported: a position lands once it is flat again, as one trade with scale-ins and scale-outs merged at the average entry and exit.
  • ▸Commission comes from Tradovate's Fills report (net P&L = gross − fees). If an account's Fills report is empty or unavailable, the sync falls back to the Performance report, which carries no fees, so those trades import at gross P&L.
  • ▸Your initial stop order becomes the trade's stop, so the trade gets its R.
  • ▸A trade you delete stays deleted — the sync won't bring it back.

Without the connection

Upload the Orders, Fills or Performance export from the Tradovate platform at /import. They produce the same trades as the connection, so uploading a file for trades that were already synced adds nothing twice.

The journal connection is read-only: it reads your fills and never places, changes or cancels an order.
